Friends and colleagues have inquired about visiting. I am only seeing close friends at this time. If you do not have my home address, feel free to email me.
Instructions for Visitors
– No viral illness. Please do not come over if you’re not feeling well, you had recent exposure to Covid or flu, or symptoms of any other viral illness.
– No animal dander. I am very allergic to dogs and cats. If you have a pet at home, please wash your clothes and put them in a hot dryer for 20 minutes before you come over. (Heat destroys the dander.)
– No tree nuts. I have a serious allergy to tree nuts. (Coconuts and peanuts are not tree nuts.)
– No perfume. I have become sensitive to strong smells. Please do not wear perfume or other strong fragrances when you visit me.
Bringing Food or Gifts
It is truly not necessary to bring anything when you visit me; your presence and your friendship is delightful. And folks have inquired about bringing food or gifts, so I made a list of my preferences and needs.
Restrictions
– I’m on a low sodium and low fat diet
– I’m counting carbs (I can have some, just not a lot)
– I have a serious allergy to tree nuts, shellfish, and many tropical fruits (including avocado, melon, papaya, and kiwi)
– I’m sensitive to gluten and dairy so I try to avoid them, but I’m not truly allergic to them
– I’m repulsed by anything with a strong smell
Food
I am now on a very restrictive medical diet. Here are some foods that I can eat:
Homemade Foods
– Soup with vegetables and/or beans (low salt, low fat)
– Cooked veggies
– Roasted chicken (low salt)
– Rice or quinoa
– Turkey, lamb, or chicken burgers or meatballs (low salt, low fat)
Grocery Store
– Organic apples, pears, blueberries, or nectarines
– Flax4Life gluten-free muffins (4 pack)
– Dark chocolate without nuts (it’s okay if nuts are processed in the same facility)
– “Undercover” chocolate quinoa crisps (dark chocolate + cherries)
Fava (only open for lunch)
– Plate with chicken; no bulgar (sub sweet potatoes)
Itani Sushi (in Epicurious Garden)
– Spicy salmon roll
– Spicy tuna roll
Razan’s Organic Kitchen
– Chicken shish kebab wrap
Lemat or Barcote or Café Colucci
– Veggie combo with gluten-free injera
Flowers
What works best for me is flowers that have a low-pollen count: orchids, roses, carnations, dahlia, snapdragons, and/or all kinds of bulbs (daffodils, iris, ranunculus, or tulips).
Gifts
I really appreciate Spotify playlists or recommendations for TV shows and movies. I also like tarot decks and sacred stones (polished minerals).
